The Piano Choir, founded in New York, 1972, continues a rich instrumental heritage stemming from Mbira, or African Thumb Pano; the organ, introduced into Spain by the Moors; the piano, refined by the Europeans; the works of James Reese Europe, Ragtime, Jazz, Rock, Gospel and contemporary sounds. Consisting of seven consummate keyboard artists performing ensemble and solo, reflecting their musical visions together as one and as one, together, The Piano Choir is truly unique.

The Piano Choir made its debut at the New York Shakespeare Festival in June of 1972. The group has also appeared at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park, Mt. Morris Park, N.Y. Soul at the Center (Lincoln Center, N.Y.), New England Conservatory, Boston and at Howard University, Washington, DC and Carnegie Hall, N. Y.
